502 MYO — Myofunctional Therapy

Services

Eight core services.
One focus.

Each begins with a 60-minute evaluation so we understand the whole picture before recommending a program.

How it works

A clear, honest process.

Most programs run 4–9 months. The first visit is 60 minutes. We'll be honest about what therapy can and can't do.

Common questions about these services

How long is the first visit?
The first visit is a 60-minute comprehensive myofunctional evaluation. We assess oral posture, swallow pattern, tongue mobility, breathing, and related muscle function. No instrumentation, no pain — just observing how you or your child breathe, rest the tongue, swallow, and speak.
How long is a typical program?
Most programs run 4 to 9 months with short daily home practice plus in-person sessions every 2 to 4 weeks. The exact length depends on the specific patterns we are working with and how consistent the home practice is.
Do you take insurance?
502 MYO is a cash-pay practice. We provide a superbill you may submit to your insurer for possible out-of-network reimbursement. HSA and FSA cards are accepted.
Do you work with children?
Yes. We work with children of all ages, including infants with feeding concerns. The first step is usually a phone conversation with a parent so we can decide together whether an evaluation is the right next step.
Do you do myofunctional therapy pre- and post-frenectomy?
Yes. We coordinate with your releasing provider. Pre-frenectomy therapy prepares the tongue and surrounding muscles; post-frenectomy therapy protects the surgical result with scar-management and re-training of the swallow and rest posture.
How is myofunctional therapy different from speech therapy?
They overlap. Myofunctional therapy focuses on the muscles that support rest posture, swallowing, and nasal breathing. Speech therapy focuses on speech production. We sometimes coordinate with a speech-language pathologist, particularly when tongue thrust or oral habit patterns affect articulation.
How do I know which service my child or I need?
Start with a Comprehensive Myofunctional Evaluation. We'll assess your specific patterns and recommend the right program — which may include one of the dedicated services on this page, a referral to another provider, or simply monitoring with a follow-up plan.
