Comprehensive Myofunctional Evaluations.
The first visit. A thorough in-person assessment that maps the way your tongue, lips, jaw, and airway are working together — and identifies the muscle and habit patterns that may be contributing to mouth breathing, snoring, tongue-tie symptoms, sleep-disordered breathing, or speech and swallowing difficulties.
Reviewed by Gina Sabbak, RDH. Last reviewed .
Who it's for
This service is designed for:
Adults or children experiencing any of the symptoms listed on our conditions pages
Patients referred by a dentist, ENT, orthodontist, sleep medicine physician, pediatrician, lactation consultant, or speech-language pathologist
Anyone considering myofunctional therapy who wants a clear baseline before committing to a program
How it works
What to expect.
What the evaluation covers
We observe and document resting tongue posture, swallow pattern, lip seal, nasal vs. mouth breathing, tongue mobility, and related facial and neck muscle function. We also review relevant medical and dental history, current symptoms, sleep patterns, and any prior diagnoses. The goal is to understand the whole picture — not to apply a single label.
What you receive
A written summary of findings, plain-language explanation of what we observed, and specific recommendations. Recommendations may include a therapy program at our practice, a referral back to your existing provider (dentist, ENT, SLP, sleep medicine), or simply monitoring with a follow-up plan if no immediate intervention is needed.
Who performs the evaluation
Gina Sabbak, RDH — a registered dental hygienist and myofunctional therapist. Gina brings an extensive background in holistic dental and airway-focused healthcare to every evaluation.
Length and cost
60 minutes in person. Pricing is transparent and listed on our pricing page. Most insurance plans do not currently cover myofunctional therapy; HSA / FSA cards are accepted.

Common questions about comprehensive myofunctional evaluations
- Do I need a referral to book an evaluation?
- No. Many of our patients are self-referred; others come through a referring provider. Either way, the evaluation is the same.
- Is the evaluation covered by insurance?
- Most dental and medical insurance plans do not currently cover myofunctional therapy. We accept HSA / FSA cards. Pricing is listed on our pricing page.
- Will I get a diagnosis at the evaluation?
- We provide a written summary of findings and recommendations. Myofunctional therapists do not diagnose medical conditions — we assess muscle and habit patterns. If a diagnosis is needed, we coordinate with your physician or dentist.
- What should I bring to the evaluation?
- A list of current symptoms, relevant medical or dental history, and any prior sleep studies, orthodontic records, or referrals. If your child is being evaluated, please bring them — the visit is in person.
- How long until I can start a program?
- Most patients start therapy within 1–2 weeks after the evaluation. If we recommend working with another provider first (e.g., a frenectomy), therapy begins after that work is complete.
